Founded by Dr Donal O'Shea, an alumnus of DCU, Donal completed both his undergraduate and PhD studies at the University before joining its School of Biotechnology as a lecturer. He later founded SlidePath, a successful spin-out company acquired by Genetix Group in 2009. Building on that success, he founded Deciphex in 2017.
Deciphex’s cutting-edge AI solutions have earned widespread recognition, enabling it to establish a growing global footprint, employing over 200 people, and recently securing over €31m in VC funding. The company’s analytics technology is now deployed by leading clinical and pharmaceutical pathology teams worldwide, demonstrating the transformative potential of its platform.

Deciphex has scaled significantly from its early days and now occupies a 2,500-square-foot space at the Innovate:Hub, as part of a growing ecosystem of pioneering Irish life sciences and medtech companies including Fire1, Coroflo, and Dolmen Design.
