Cleantech

  • Impact Area

DCU:Innovate Hub has a number of cutting edge cleantech companies based on site, who are able to avail of specialised industrial units to prototype and advance their technologies. For example, Exergyn has a dedicated 5,000 sq ft unit where they build their shape memory alloy (SMA) technology. Exergyn’s SMA core provides solid state cooling and heating without the planet polluting F-gas refrigerants currently used in most HVAC systems. Meanwhile HT Materials Science is developing and commercialising its nanoparticle based heat transfer fluid technology ‘Maxwell’, which is designed to be a drop-in additive for cooling and heating systems, that works by enhancing heat transfer and thereby significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. Other cleantech companies on site include Siemens, Wellair and Superfy.
