Dr Barbara Harvey Carroll

Barbara Harvey Carroll is the Director of Business Development for Life Sciences at DCU Innovate, where she promotes technology commercialisation and fosters industry-academic collaboration. She supports researchers and spinouts in developing and commercialising intellectual property, securing funding, and driving social and economic impact. She also works closely with industry partners to facilitate collaborations with DCU academics and connect them with the University’s expertise and IP.

With a background spanning innovation, entrepreneurship, and IP management, Barbara holds an MBA from INSEAD and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining DCU, she held key roles at Trinity College Dublin, including IP Development & Academic Consultancy Manager, and EIT KIC Programme Manager, where she supported research commercialisation and entrepreneurship. She also has industry experience in innovation and M&A from her time at Novozymes and began her career as a consultant at Bain & Company. Barbara is motivated by maximising the impact of academic research, and connecting academia and industry to drive innovation forward.
